How does the D-Stil Lite work?

Water distillation is a process using boiling water to create steam, which is cooled back into water in a separate container, leaving all the impurities behind. The D-Stil Lite Emergency Water Distiller uses your pots from home, along with practically any heat source, to emulate this process.

First, fill an 8 to 12-inch pot with the water you need to distill. We call this the boiling pot. Place your boiling pot on top of your heat source and prepare to boil it.

Second, place your D-Stil Lite Emergency Water Distiller on top of the boiling pot, like a lid, sealing in the steam.

Next, take a second pot (known as the condenser pot) that is at least 10 inches in diameter or larger, with a flat bottom. Fill the condenser pot with cold water (the colder the better, you could even use snow!) and place it on top of the distiller’s seal.
This creates a system where the steam from the boiling pot rises through the opening in the distiller and hits the bottom of the colder pot. The steam will be cooled down and condensed back into, now purified, water. This distilled water drips out the stainless steel discharge tube in a container of your choice and can make up to (blank) gallons per hour.

What do I need to make my own distilled water?

D-Stil Lite Emergency Water Distiller does not include either of the pots you will need, nor the heat source. For the boiling pot (on the bottom), you will need an 8 to 12-inch pot. For the condensing pot (on top), you will need a 10-inch pot or larger, with a flat bottom. We recommend stainless steel pots, but any kind you have on hand will work just fine.

As for the heating source, anything that can make a pot of water boil will work. You could use your at-home stove top, wood-burning stove, barbeque grill, rocket stove, portable propane stove (like Coleman or Camp Chef stoves), or even a campfire. As long as you can make boiling water, you can make distilled water with the D-Stil Lite Emergency Water Distiller. This makes it the perfect off-grid, outdoor, backpacking, or camping water distiller! This should be in every 72-hour kit, bug-out bag and long-term emergency kit.

How exactly does the D-Stil Lite Emergency Water Distiller remove?

Bacteria, Viruses, Parasites, Cycts, Toxic Heavy Metals, Radioactive particles, Flouride, chemicals and more (see water purification chart in product pictures above).
